Anti-socials kill youth in act of vengeance in Malda

A youth who was trying to save the modesty of his sister-in-law, was killed by anti-socials at a colony in Malda district. The youth was hacked to death in a narrow road at Kuldeep Mishra Colony on Sunday night.

Later, the infuriated neighbours set the houses of those anti-socials on fire. Those
anti-socials were fled from the area, but police detained their family persons for investigation.
Police informed that local anti-social Jhoton Chowdhury and his aides sneaked into a marriage party where disk jockey was playing music. Chowdhury and his associates allegedly molested the women who were busy dancing with their friends.

Another woman suddenly caught Chowdhury red handed there doing nuisance with the girls.
Chowdhury threatened to kill her, tried to pull her saari’s anchal and shoved her on the ground. Her brother-in-law Arjun (19) soon came there, held the collar of Chowdhury and pushed him outside. Arjun’s friends then arrived there to help him.

Chowdhury however, threatened to kill Arjun while leaving the spot. But the victim woman and his son did not go to the police to report the matter.

Meanwhile, on Sunday when Arjun’s family was preparing to go to another
wedding ceremony, Chowdhury and his gang members were waiting for them in a narrow lane close to Arjun’s house.

Arjun moved out of the house around 8:30 pm to call his neighbours who were supposed to be accompanying them in that wedding party.

While returning back home, Chowdhury and his gang members surrounded him there. He was hacked to death and the assailants decamped from the spot.

As Arjun’s body was lying in the pool of blood, his family rushed there but didn’t have enough time to take him to a hospital. “His lifeless body was fallen on the road. The blood was oozing out from his wounds. It was really horrible to see him lying there,” said one of Arjun’s friends.

Police initiated a murder case and the body of deceased was sent for post mortem. “We have recovered the sickle by which Chowdhury’s gang hacked him. They threw that sharp cutting weapon into a pond in the area. They may have fled in Siliguri,” said an investigating officer.
