Another Delhi-based energy consultancy firm involved?

During interrogation of the two persons – Vipan Kumar and Jatinder Nagpal – arrested on Thursday, the police have stumbled upon the name of one new Delhi-based energy consultancy firm with suspected links in the second module of alleged trade of confidential government documents, a senior police official said on Friday.

Vipan (42) and Jatinder (40) disclosed the names of two Delhi-based energy consultancies to whom they used to sell confidential documents, of which one is already under the police scanner and the other is new. However, when the police contacted the owner of the other consultancy (newly disclosed), the owner had already left Delhi. His phone was also found to be switched off later.

The senior official, however, refrained from disclosing the name of the new consultancy unless its owner is questioned. The energy consultancy units so far reported to be under the police scanner include Santanu Saikia’s website Indianpetro, Prayas Jain’s Metis Business solutions and Infraline, in which Lokesh Sharma – whose arrest led to the cracking of the second module – worked as a consultant. While Vipan worked as PA to UPSC member Chhattar Singh, Jatinder reportedly worked as a PS to Ravi Shankar Prasad, Joint Secretary at the environment ministry, said a police source.
