Another BJP leader shot in UP
Within a few days of the killing of BJP leader Vijay Pandit in Dadri, another party leader, Omveer Singh, was on Tuesday shot dead by unidentified assailants in Meerapur area of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. Singh (55), a former army man, was going to his fields on a motorcycle when three miscreants intercepted him near a canal and opened fire. He also returned fire from his revolver injuring one of the attackers, police said. Singh received three bullet injuries in his stomach which proved fatal, police said. Later, the miscreants ran away with his pistol and mobile phone.The body has been sent for autopsy. The family members claim it was a political murder as he had raised voice against local SP leaders who were denying riot compensation to the Hindu families. Singh was the city unit president of Muzaffarnagar.
