Another arrested in engineer’s death case

The prime accused in connection with the murder of Romit Mondal was arrested on Friday night.

Police said the accused Baptu Naik alias Deep had thrown the paver block at Mondal that had led to his death. Deep was arrested from near Beltala Road on Friday night. It may be mentioned that four others - Subhomoy Jana alias Babu, Ranadip Sarkar alias Vishal, Dharmendra and Surajit Tikadar - were arrested on Thursday. It may be recalled that the engineer Romit Mondal was beaten following a scuffle when he went out to have biryani with his friend near Maddox Square on Friday night. He had succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours on Tuesday in a private hospital. The accused who were arrested on Thursday had revealed the whereabouts of the prime accused during interrogation.

Police went through footages of the surveillance cameras at different intersections and identified the youth.
