Anna impressed by Mamata’s simplicity, says VK Singh

Former Army chief General VK Singh on Sunday said that he has not fallen out with social activist Anna Hazare. With Hazare deciding to campaign for West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and VK Singh joining BJP, it has been widely speculated that relationship has soured between the two. However, the General, who was in Lucknow to attend party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally, said ‘Hazare is impressed by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s personality and not influenced by her ideology. She (Mamata) lives with simplicity and that’s why Anna appreciates her. She stays in her own house in Kalighat and wears a slipper and a simple sari. It is not ideology, but about the personality.’  Singh said Anna wanted to get ‘good’ people elected in the country for the formation of a strong Lokpal.
