Animal carcass flares up tensions in Bhajanpura

Days after Trilokpuri, the communal tension flared up in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura area on late Sunday evening, when the carcass of an animal was found in the area.

Delhi police, however, managed to control the situation and denied any violence in the area. Soon after police was informed about the discovery of the carcass, the senior officials reached the spot and contained the situation. ‘Showing restraint and maturity, residents of the area prevented the anger from spilling into the streets,’ said Sanjay

Beniwal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range). Police also formed a 20-member team to tackle the situation. At the time of the incident, a wedding ceremony was taking place at the community centre in the area. Few persons, who were the part of the wedding ceremony found the carcass at the venue and got agitated.

The locals were also fumed and the situation was brought under control with deployment of police.
