Ammunition recovered from medicine shop, owner detained

Police recovered ammunition from a medical shop at Kharagpore’s Golbazar area on Wednesday morning.

Some crude bombs and sockets were recovered from the roof top of the medicine shop there; a box was kept on the roof top which contained those ammunitions.

The police detained the owner of the shop and he was interrogated for long time in the Kharagpur police station.

The local residents, meanwhile, informed the matter to some paramilitary force jawans that some crude bombs were recovered.

Those jawans visited the spot and informed the matter to the local police station. Bomb disposal squads were called up there to take those bombs safely away.

“It was really suspicious that those bombs were planted on the top of the medicine shop. We initially thought it was done by some anti-social groups, so that they can retrieve those bombs later. But after interrogating the man, we smelt a rat” a police officer said.

The police source has confirmed that the detained medicine shop keeper was incoherent in front of police’s quizzing. He had given self contradictory statements.

A police team reached the shop keeper’s house and searched the house. They have taken some important documents relevant to this case.

“The man had anti-social links. We are sure that he stocked those ammunition intentionally in the 

rooftop. He would hand those ammunitions over to somebody later,” said the police officer.

Meanwhile, the top police brasses of the Kharagpore had gone to the place to investigate the matter. They have taken the sample from the spot.
