Amity student found dead behind hostel, reason unknown

A student from Amity University, Noida, was found dead behind the hostel inside the university campus. The student fell from the 4th floor of the hostel building and has been identified as Udit Shankar Singh of B Tech (EEE) first-year. The reason behind the tragic demise of the student is still unknown as it is not clear whether it was an accident or done intentionally.

“The incident took place at around 2.00 pm. The body was first witnessed by a worker who then informed us. The actual reason behind is still unknown,” said Savita Mehta, vice-president, Communications, Amity University.

“Udit was a bright student and was appearing in the ongoing end term examinations. We deeply mourn the tragic death of our dear student. We have immediately constituted a high-level investigation committee consisting of five members and investigation is on. Amity is providing full 

support and assistance to the family members and police”, she added.

“As soon as we received the information, we rushed to the spot and the student was taken to Kailash Hospital, where after examining, the doctors declared him dead. The reason behind the death is still unknown. We found some books and one of his sandal on the roof while another one was found lying beside his body,” Amaranth Yadav, SHO, Sector 39 Noida said.

“We are further investigating for the actual reason behind the death, whether it was a suicide or just an accident,” added Yadav.

The deceased, 19-year-old boy Udit, hailed from Bhojpur district of Bihar.
