Amit Shah refuses to roll back note ban, takes on Opposition

BJP President Amit Shah on Mondaymade a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee and said Narendra Modi government will not go back from its fight against black money and demonitisation.

Before November 7, all the opposition leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati, and Mulayam Singh Yadav all were questioning BJP government what it had done on black money. But from November 8, all these leaders have been asking Modi government “why have you taken action on black money,” Amit Shah told a rally here in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur to celebrate Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh completing 13 years in office on Monday.

“All those people, who have lost their money, have been opposing the demonitisation move. You can see the face of Mamata Banerjee,” said BJP President adding “But Modi government will not go back from its fight against black money and demonitisation”.

“Rahul Baba had questioned, what Modi government had done for the nation in the last two and half years and let me tell the people, hum ne ek bolne wala pradhan mantra diya hai (We have given a prime Minister who speaks),”  he said.

Twelve lakh crore rupees worth of corruption had rocked the nation during the ten years rule of UPA but in the last two and half years not a single case of corruption was alleged against the Modi government, Shah claimed.

During UPA regime Pakistan was attacking Kashmir valley every day, but people were just waiting for permission from Delhi, he said adding when Pakistan fired at Indian territory, Prime Minister Modi ordered the army to give a befitting reply. “Today things are totally different. It was never a practice to retaliate. But we have given a befitting reply to Pakistan on its birder,” he said.

“Things cannot be seen by Rahul Gandhi as he is wearing Italian spectacle. Had he hear Indian glasses, he could have noticed India is changing,” BJP national President said amid applause from the BJP workers.

The nation has witnessed four types of governments, Congress, Left supported, regional parties ruled and BJP governments and the political pundits should analyse which government has worked for poverty eradication and social and economic empowerment of people and which government has faith on development, he said.

“We believe in politics of performance. We have never done caste or communal politics or other forms of narrow politics,” said Shah adding this was the reason if BJP was elected to form a government in a state it was being repeated in every successive election.

On the Maoist issue, he said Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has nearly freed Chhattisgarh from Maoism, which was a good thing for the nation.

He also congratulated the Chief Minister for completing 13 years in office and in returns Dr Raman Singh said it was BJP, which had picked up a simple party worker like him for the Chief Minister of the state, for which he was grateful to the BJP. He also assured the national BJP President that the state BJP government would return to power in 2018 Assembly election and 2019 Lok Sabha poll.
