State Commerce and Industries minister Amit Mitra will inaugurate the International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) 2016, here on Wednesday.

The Minister will also flag off the Global Mining Summit (GMS), organised concurrently with IMME. Balvinder Kumar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Mines, and Sutirtha Bhattacharya, Chairman and Managing Director of Coal India Ltd, will also attend the programme.

The Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Steel, Coal India Ltd and Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises will support both the events.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will also play a leading role in organising the events. The inauguration will also see the unveiling of a comprehensive CII Report on ‘Mining: The Opportunities’ and the IMME 2016 Show Directory.

Since its inception in 1984, IMME has been the largest mining exhibition ever in India. IMME 2016 will feature international pavilions from Australia, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia and United Kingdom.

The exhibition is a platform to showcase latest and diverse range of mining machinery, equipments, advanced technology solutions, services and supplies from India and companies from abroad.

On the other hand, GMS 2016 is a signature event and has been organized alongside the IMME. Over the years, this flagship event of the CII National Mining Committee has emerged as the forum for mining leaders to assemble both internationally and from India.

GMS will bring together government policy-makers, mining professionals, technology providers, financing institutions, academia, geologists, environmentalists and consultants to discuss emerging issues and challenges being faced by the sector.

The ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ in GMS is a key factor, where large mining companies will share their procurement plans and explore key technology and collaboration opportunities in the next two-three years.

IMME will have around 10,000 business visitors, in which Australia is the partner country.

The key exhibitors at IMME 2016 include JCB, CAT, Volvo, Tata Hitachi, Mahindra, Sany, Leeboy, SREI Finance, Dozco, Sandvik, Atlas Copco, ABB, Puzzolana, Joy Global, L&T, BEML, FLSmidth, BKT, Bridgestone and Aeolus.
