Amit Mitra meets Sitharaman, seeks funds for West Bengal

Mitra met Sitharaman at her office and discussed various projects, which are pending due to lack of fund allocations by the Centre.
Mitra’s discussion with Sitharaman came in the wake of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who assured her that no stone will be left unturned for the development of West Bengal.
Modi apparently asked her to take up the investment and development related matters with Sitharaman following which Amit Mitra was asked to take up the matter with Sitharaman.
“On the issue of releasing funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), Mitra has reportedly asked her to expedite the pending claims of Rs 1,500 crore and discussed over Goods and Services Tax (GST),” sources said.
