Amdist internal strife, newly appointed UP Congress incharge to visit today

Amid the public outburst of union steel minister Beni Prasad Verma, highlighting internal party bickering, the newly appointed AICC general secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Madhusudan Mistri would be reaching here along with his three deputies on Friday.

Before the Gujarati v/s Gujarati fight between Mistri and Amit Shah of BJP can take shape, the Congress in-charge will have to set its own house in order first.

Mistri would be holding two meetings—one with the eight Zonal in-charges and their deputies and the second one with the legislators during his day long visit on Friday.  Mistri and his deputies were appointed by Sonia Gandhi on 16 June.

Delay in announcing the state executive committee and naming of district and city presidents in almost over 70 units has forced Mistri to do very little on his first visit.   Congress leaders in UP claim that though Mistri  is the best choice made by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi at the present circumstances they are also apprehensive about the role of some senior leaders, who could derail the success of the party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in the state like they did in the last assembly polls.
