Alternate plot to set up Mishti Hub identified

The alternate plot to set up Mishti Hub in Burdwan has been identified at Bamchandaipur in Burdwan on Saturday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had directed the Burdwan district authorities on the day of Singur verdict to search for a new plot for the proposed Mishti Hub as it would not come up in the location near Shaktigarh following resentment shown by farmers.

The 10.5 acre plot at Shaktigarh was acquired by the erstwhile Left Front government in 2007. The district authorities had initiated a search for an alternate plot for Chief Minister’s dream project to construct Mishti Hub in Burdwan.

The new plot that has been identified for the project is of around 5 acre and all the stakeholders, mainly the sweet traders from the area have expressed their satisfaction saying that it is the best location for the project.

The work to prepare the plot for further progress in the project will be taken up from Monday and the opening will be on September 6. At the same time there is around one acre of land at Shaktigarh for common facilities for the hub.
