Alstom Bharat Forge JV to supply turbines for NTPC project

 "The company will supply two units of 800 mw ultra- supercritical steam turbine generator islands, on EPC basis, along with related civil work for the Telangana super thermal power project Phase-1 near Ramagundam, Karimnagar district of Telangana," it said in a statement here.

The total power demand from the southern region is 34,000 mw. "The 800 mw Steam Turbine Generator Islands for the power plant will be the first with ultra-supercritical parameters and will help in meeting the ever increasing power demand of southern states in India by adding a much needed 1,600 mw to the electricity grid," the statement said.

 The equipment for the project will be manufactured majorly at the company's facility at Sanand in Gujarat. Alstom Bharat Forge Power Pvt Ltd (ABFPPL) manufactures and supplies 600 mega watts to 800 mega watts turbines, steam turbines, generators, and heat exchangers for coal-fuelled power plants. The company was founded in 2009.

On November 26, General Electric acquired Alstom's shareholding in ABFPPL as a part of its global acquisition of energy business activities of Alstom SA. "Until further update, ABFPPL will continue to operate under the name of Alstom Bharat Forge Power Pvt Ltd name," the statement said.
