Alliance files baseless allegations against Madan

Rabin Deb, CPI(M) state committee member and Deepa Das Munshi, Congress candidate from Bhowanipore on Thursday met the Chief Electoral Officer and alleged that Madan Mitra would control the election from hospital.

They demanded that CCTV cameras should be installed inside the room where Mitra had been put up. Das Munshi further demanded that there should be restrictions on the use of mobile phones.

This was deliberately done to confuse the voters of Bhowanipore Assembly constituency.

Never in the past Mitra was given the charge to hold election in Bhowanipore Assembly seat. When Bhowanipore was a part of Chowringhee constituency, that is, before the delimitation, Subrata Bakshi and Mukul Roy used to look after Bhowanipore. In 2011 Assembly elections when Bakshi was the candidate, Roy had conducted poll in Bhowanipore. Mamata Banerjee was elected in a by election. From then Bakshi is party’s main lieutenant in Bhowanipore. He is associated with local politics for more than four decades. A resident of Bhowanipore, he has total control over the party’s organisation in the area.

He knows the area better than the back of his right hand. “It is an attempt to confuse the voters of the area” a Trinamool leader said.
