All six power generation units of NTPC shuts down

West Bengal and the adjoining states including Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam and Sikkim may witness massive power cuts as all the six power generation units of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Farakka in Murshidabad has stopped functioning. 

The situation had further worsened since Saturday night after the functioning of sixth unit of the NTPC at Farrakka was hindered, while the rest five had stopped working from Friday night. 

Senior officials of the NTPC believe it will take seven days to restore normalcy in Farakka. The functions at all the six units had stopped due to low water level in the canal that feeds the units.
