It is not like the nation is short of reasons to worry that another cause has just surfaced to the brim. This time, it is history coming back to visit with “reservations” being the key reason for chaos. The Yuva Jat fauj of the Jats and the OBC brigade are already warming up for a showdown amongst and against each other over the Jat reservation issue in Haryana. While the Yuva Jat Fauj stands firm on their grounds with demands for restorations in reservation for the Jats of Haryana,  the OBC brigade is also set to appeal and fight against any such demands.

The Government too does not seem to have the answers to this crisis. There is no secret about the differences between the members of the BJP Government ruling Haryana over this issue. This also happens to be the medium for many to voice their violent opinions. If the recent past is to be visited, a group of Jat had also promised to go ahead and block all communication with the national capital if their demands were denied. Situations moved from bad to worse in districts of Sonepat and Bhiwani earlier on Sunday when a number of Jat protesters burnt down two Police Chowkis, shops and ATM’s; that too in the presence of aerial surveillance in the worst affected areas by Army staged flag marches. The DGP on duty, Yashpal Singhal, later spoke to the media informing them about the happenings stating that 10 people are reported dead and over 150 injured during the attacks. The DGP also informed the media that the water supply from Haryana to Delhi is still disrupted and that their foremost responsibility was to find a negotiating point where water could be brought in for the people of Delhi. The DGP along with Home Secretary P.K Das attended a press conference where he spoke about the same in further detail. The DGP said, “Our first priority is to restore Delhi’s water supply, from Akbarpur Barota point (in Sonipat). Police, para forces and technical team of Haryana’s Irrigation Department have reached there and we are trying to restore it immediately so that Delhi residents are not inconvenienced”. The DGP further added that as many as 50 people have also been arrested along with many more brought in for questioning with regard to all the violent attacks witnessed earlier in the day. It had also been reported that the 10 people killed belonged to Jhajjar, Rohtak, and Kaithal districts.

Senior BJP leaders along with senior delegates of the Khap Panchayat also called for a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh hoping to find a solution to the Jat agitation. The BJP leaders included the likes of Union Minister from Uttar Pradesh Sanjeev Baliyan, Anil Jain, Haryana BJP in-charge and Haryana Ministers Capt Abhimanyu and OP Dhankar.  Kurukshetra Member of Parliament and the face of the OBC Brigade, Rajkumar Saini, openly blamed CM Khattar, and his Government for allowing the Jat agitation to have such a lethal effect. He also spoke to the media stating, “If the government does not end this, the OBC brigade will be on the streets. We will teach them how to stop jams and open blockades.”
