All ailing units of ITDC must be revived: Tourism Minister

Sharma said, “From now onwards all efforts must be made to revive the ailing units/hotels of ITDC which will require a major change in work culture”. He asked the employees to identify problems, dedicate a person responsible, draw up a time frame to correct it and continuously monitor the progress.

“There can be no compromise on delivery, and results must become visible. We will try to revive hotels with some management problems but will have to lease out those with sticky problems, for example, Hotel Ashok at Jammu” said the minister. Disinvestment should be the last option, he added.

The Minister explained that an entrepreneur’s approach and vigorous marketing is required to take ITDC to new heights. It is a sector which is capable of showing quick results and results must start pouring in by the next year, he emphasized. In a separate meeting with the staff, he assured them that their problems will be sorted out within three months and all issues will be addressed only after discussions with the staff.
