Alipore court rejects Madan Mitra’s bail plea

The bail plea of former state Transport Minister Madan Mitra has been rejected when he was produced before the Alipore Court on Friday.

The court mentioned that common people’s money has been cheated and Mitra is a people’s representative. He was in correctional home and hospital for many days.

The court has also asked the counsel of the CBI that “will the sky fall if he is granted bail? Can we arrange appearance of Mitra for two to three days in a week?”

In reply the CBI counsel submitted that Mitra is an influential person. The investigation might get affected if he is granted bail.

Mitra’s counsels pleaded for his bail before the court stating that he had been in the CBI’s custody for the past 441 days.

The investigating agency is yet to give any prove of the involvement of Mitra. Thus he should be given bail.

The court finally decided not to release Mitra on bail on Friday and he has to continue to be in judicial custody.
