Aligarh rape accused attempts suicide, saved

A man accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old, was found lying on road here on Sunday, with his throat and wrist partially slit, said reports.
Locals informed the police after spotting his body and the police then rushed the victim to hospital.
The accused, identified as Suman, told police that he tried to commit suicide out of guilt, after having raped and murdered the child.
Earlier on Thursday, the child’s body was recovered from a garbage dump in Nagla Kalar area in the city.
The incident led to about 100 protesters gathering outside the Banna Devi Police Station in Aligarh and shouting slogans against the police, reports said.
While some of the protesters allegedly threw stones at the cops which led them use batons, the cops were also accused of attacking the girl’s parents and dragging the mother on the ground.
