Alert constable arrests ATM thief

An alert police constable helped nab a man named Sanjay, who carried out a heist at an ATM in the Mandawali area in East Delhi. Cash worth around Rs 2.8 lakh was recovered from the man.
Sanjay was caught after the security guard stationed outside the Punjab National Bank ATM raised an alarm on discovering that the ATM’s shutter was half open and a man was inside.
The guard also noticed a man waiting at some distance from the ATM. As soon as the guard called out for help, the man on the bike fled. But a constable who was on duty in the area managed to nab Sanjay.
‘On Sunday night around 2.40 am, I saw two people, one outside the ATM standing on his bike and another inside the ATM. When I moved closer, I saw a man inside the ATM and the ATM machine was open. I started shouting and the police managed to arrest him’ the guard said.
‘The credit for Sanjay’s arrest goes to the constable. His efforts made it possible to recover the stolen money. We will find the other accused too,’ an officer said.
