Twinkle says of the two she might be the one who is well read, but the Airlift star is street smart.
“He (Akshay) doesn’t read. I always say you need to read to be smart or successful but he doesn’t read. Despite that, he is really smart. He is smart in a different way than I am. I am probably better read, but he is street smart.”
“He is better with numbers than I am. His understanding of people, the way business works, is greater than me. He is extremely confident,” says the actor.
Twinkle was speaking at the Times LitFest, last evening. The actor said smartness in today’s age can’t be defined in a specific way and added that even the film fraternity has a mix of smart and “very dumb” people.
“In movie industry, just like any other place, there are some smart people, some very dumb people. I know many smart and dumb people. I would say Aamir Khan is smart.”
Twinkle, 41, has published two books ‘Mrs Funnybones’ and her latest, ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’.
The actor, who is talked about for her feminist take in her writing, feels a lot of people have misconceptions about feminism.
“A lot of people have this misconception about feminism. They feel that feminists are aggressive, man hating women with a little moustache. It’s not true.
“It’s got a bad rap because probably at the time when feminism came into being, you had to be strident and aggressive because you were facing so much opposition but that’s not the case today. Feminism is about gender equality, not gender neutrality.”
Talking about her journey of becoming a writer, she revealed that she completed half of her book, ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’, when she was 18 years old.
She also hailed herself as an avid reader. “I had a file of morbid poems but then for 20 years I did not write anything, not even a diary. I thought I would start writing again at the age of 60, but then this opportunity knocked on my door and that is how I became a writer”.
