Akhilesh govt suspends errant cops after SC rap

Claiming that the 10-year-old girl in Bulandshahar was not raped, Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday took strict action against the erring police personnel and suspended two women officials.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arun Kumar said here that both the medical examinations of the girl did not confirm rape. ‘Still taking serious note of putting the girl in lockup, two police officials – SHO (women police station) Gayashree Chauhan and sub-inspector Sarita Dubey – have been suspended and FIR has been registered against unknown police personal under SC/ST Act and section 506 of the IPC,’ Kumar said.

‘Both the medical and pathological reports of the girl did not confirm rape,’ he added.

When the ADG’s attention was drawn towards the Supreme Court’s notice taking suo motu cognisance of media reports about detention of a 10-year-old rape victim by police in Bulandshahr, he said the UP police would comply with the SC direction.
