Akhilesh directs chief secy to improve power, law and order

Taking serious cognisance of the complaints and suggestions of the party MPs and MLAs, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has sent a letter to the chief secretary Jawed Usmani to take immediate steps for improvement of power supply, law and order and other developmental activities in the state, here on Tuesday.

The steps, the UP CM has asked the bureaucratic head to take, included repair of transformers, improve power distribution, better the law and order, inspections of blocks and tehsils and close monitoring of the various developmental activities being carried out in the state.

‘It is the responsibility of the state government to ensure power supply and start development projects for the welfare of the people in general and for weaker section in particular. Implement the schemes in letter and spirit and see to it that benefits reach the people,’ chief minister said.

These directions came after the Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and the chief minister held meetings with the public representatives recently and took note of their suggestions and complaints. Necessary directions were taken from them, to cater to the people of the state ahead of Lok Sabha polls, were being sought.

The people’s representatives were vocal in their complaints about irregular delivery of electricity and deterioration in law and order. Some legislators even suggested that officials did not listen to them.

It may be recalled that the SP leadership had listened to MLAs and MPs and on the basis of their complaints, the Director General of Police (DGP), A C Sharma was removed from the post. It is also significant that Mulayam Singh Yadav had been publicly making adverse comments on the functioning of his party’s government.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav has expressed his condolences on the death of former Chief Justice of India J S Verma in Gurgaon last night. In his condolence message here, Yadav said that Justice Verma always gave justice to the poor and weaker section and gave suggestion and recommendation to strengthen the Indian republic.

‘Justice Verma would also be remembered for his justice, simplicity and honesty,’ he further added.
