AK-67 wiser, stronger

Tens of thousands of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters who had gathered at the sprawling ground in the heart of the Capital since morning cheered loudly and waved flags as Kejriwal took the oath of office and secrecy.

In his address from the ramparts of the historic ground, Kejriwal said he had raised the issue of complete statehood for Delhi during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

“When I met the Prime Minister, I told him that god cannot give a better chance than this. We have an absolute majority in Delhi and you have a full majority at the Centre. If we both decide that Delhi should get complete statehood, then it will definitely get it.”

“In the election campaigns, the BJP talked of giving complete statehood to Delhi in their manifesto. For the past 15 years, the BJP has been fighting to give compete statehood to Delhi. Even before the
Lok Sabha elections, the saffron party had promised the people of Delhi that they will give them complete statehood,” he added.

Kejriwal will not hold any portfolio but oversee the work of all the ministers, said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Warning his party leaders and workers against arrogance, he said this was the reason for the defeat of the Congress and the BJP, which had received huge majority in Lok Sabha polls just nine months ago.

In his 45-minute speech, he promised: “We are confident of making Delhi the first corruption free state in the next five years. I will soon announce a helpline for that. I will not let your hard earned money (tax) go waste but use it judiciously in health, education, power, water and road construction.”

Arvind’s agenda

I want to end VIP culture in Delhi

BJP had promised to grant full statehood to Delhi. Before the elections, they had promised to do this for the people of Delhi.

It’s not possible for the Centre to take care of important issues related with governance of the state, so I hope the Centre will fullfill their promise.

Lokpal Bill is very important; it needs to be passed as soon as possible.

Delhi will become India’s first corruption-free state.

Some people might try to malign us by impersonating as AAP workers.

I want to tell the law and order machinery not to spare anyone who indulges in unlawful activities.

I will work for the service of Delhi’s people for five years with full dedication.

We have to make sure that we don’t get carried away and become arrogant.

The verdict which we got is ‘miracle of God’.

People of all religions, castes, classes voted for us.

I knew people of Delhi love me but didn’t know they love me so much.
