‘AJC Bose Road, Ma flyover to be connected in 2-3 months’

Once completed the total length of the flyover will be 9.2km of which the length of Park Circus flyover is 4.3km. The Park Circus flyover is called Ma flyover, a name given by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It may be recalled that she had insisted that both the flyovers should be joined for faster movement of traffic.

KMDA engineers said construction of two flanks of AJC Bose Road and Ma flyovers was being carried out in full swing. One flank of Ma flyover will connect Congress Exhibition Road with AJC Bose Road flyover.

The other arm of AJC Bose flyover will connect Syed Amir Ali Avenue near Quest Mall. Thus the South bound traffic from AJC Bose Road flyover will be able to catch Amir Ali Avenue without affecting seven point crossing.

Senior police officers said once completed the traffic congestion near the seven point crossing would be a matter of the past. From seven point crossing on Shakespeare Sarani connects Park Circus with Jawaharlal Nehru Road. But the road is congested and traffic movement along the thoroughfare is very slow.

Traffic jams at the intersection with AJC Bose Road near Kalamandir and Camac Street during the morning and evening peak office hour have become a regular affair.

The volume of traffic will be less once the connection between Ma and AJC Bose Road flyover is ready. The construction of the main pillar at the even point crossing is completed and within the next one month construction of two more pillars will be ready.

Now, one takes four to five minutes to reach Eastern Metropolitan bypass from Park Circus taking the flyover. Once completed, vehicles intending to catch EM bypass from PTS will take less than 15 minutes to reach the destination.

Mamata Banerjee wants to ensure that one should be able to reach Central Business district from the airport within 30 to 45 minutes.
