AISA to protest outside Bihar Bhawan over Shahabuddin’s release today

The issue of notorious political strongman Mohammed Shahabuddin’s release from jail has reached from Bihar to campuses in Delhi.

The Left student-wing All India Students’ Association (AISA) is planning to protest at Bihar Bhavan on Wednesday against Bihar government’s “failure” to keep Shahabuddin in jail, who had allegedly killed the former president of JNU Students’ Union Chandrasekhar.

“Members of AISA from Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia and JNU will gather and protest in front of Bihar Bhavan on Wednesday. Our demand to Bihar government is to put Shahabuddin back in jail.
We are not going to stop until the Bihar government does what justice demands. It is ironic that the government is allowing a dreaded criminal go scot-free. Members of AISA will also protest simultaneously in Patna,” said Rama Naga, an activist of AISA.

“We will wait for the response of the government after our planned protest and will then chart further plans to continue our struggle for justice for comrade Chandrasekhar,” added Naga.

Former  Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Shahabuddin, convicted of five murders, is known for brutally removing his political opponents.  He had allegedly employed a sharpshooter to gun down Chandrasekhar Prasad, an activist of Communist Party of India (M-L) Liberation, in 1997 while he was addressing a street corner rally. AISA is the student-wing of the CPI (M-L) Liberation.
