‘Airport line to be functional by October’

Repair work on the Airport Metro Line, whose operations were stalled due to defects, would be over by October end, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Monday said.
‘We are expecting the repair work on the Airport Metro Express Line to be completed by the end of October,’ he told reporters while speaking on the sidelines of a conference on Urban Infrastructure - PPP for Better Public Service here.
The Urban Development Minister also batted for mono rail projects in the country. Nath said Monorail was 40 percent cheaper than metro and can negotiate sharper curves. ‘It can go up and down, which the metro cannot. The monorail corridor would provide intra-city transport service in congested localities,’ he said.
