Air India’s direct flight from Delhi to Vienna takes off

National carrier Air India on Wednesday launched its direct non-stop operations between Delhi and the Music City Vienna capital of Austria with the Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft. Air India is offering attractive promotional fares on this route in both the directions.

The non-stop service on the Delhi-Vienna-Delhi sector will operate three days a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight AI-153 will leave Delhi at 1405 hrs to arrive in Vienna at a convenient time of 1845 hrs. The return flight will leave Vienna at 2245 hrs as AI-154 and reach Delhi at 0925 hrs the next morning.

Nestled along the banks of river Danube, the spectacular natural splendor sets Vienna apart. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. This direct flight will meet a long-standing need of Indians in Austria and neighbouring European cities as well as of locals visiting the Indian sub-continent.

Speaking on the occasion Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said, “the new service assumed significance in view of the strong relationship that India and Austria  have been sharing in tourism, education, industry, culture etc. The new service will cater to different segments of air travellers.” 

The flight will offer easy connection to over 25 destinations in Europe.

Major tourist attractions include the imperial palaces of the Hofburg and Schönbrunn (also home to the world’s oldest zoo) and the Riesenrad  in the Prater. Cultural highlights include the Burgtheater, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Lipizzaner horses at the spanische Hofreitschule, and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. 

Modern attractions include the Hundertwasserhaus and the United Nations Headquarters. Besides, Vienna has many attractions like the St. Stephens cathedral and square, Graben and the Karntner Strabe  are shopping streets and Ringstrabe etc  The flight will be a boost to tourism as well as Air India offers convenient connections from its hub in Delhi to places of interest and tourism like the Taj Mahal, the backwaters and beaches on Kerala and Goa. The majestic and memorable sights  in Rajasthan, Puri in Orissa and many more such destinations are in the list. This flight has generated a lot of enthusiasm in the Indian Diaspora in Austria.
