11 hours after a 36-year-old cabin crew of Air India posted her photograph visiting a graveyard on Facebook, she was killed in a road accident in South Delhi on early Friday. Her husband, who is fighting blood cancer is already admitted in a hospital.

The accident took place on Friday morning at around 5 am, when Shakambari Zutshi was going to Delhi Airport to board a flight to Kolkata. In the mid-way, when her cab reached Rajokri flyover in South Delhi, a truck suddenly applied brakes and a speeding Innova car that was behind the truck rammed into it. Meanwhile, the Indigo car in which Zutshi was sitting at the rear seat, also rammed into the Innova car. The cab’s speed was so high that the driver could not apply brakes. Zutshi’s cab driver, and two occupants of the Innova car including the driver were injured in the accident, while Zutshi died on the spot. All were rushed to the hospital where Zutshi was declared brought dead whereas, the condition of her cab driver is stated to be critical till late Friday.

During investigation, it was learnt that Zutshi’s husband is admitted in a private hospital where he is fighting cancer. When the police informed him about the demise of Zutshi in a road accident, he gave approval for the post-mortem as he could not go there.

Meanwhile, the Air India authorities said that since Zutshi’s husband was hospitalised, she was doing all short flights from Delhi so that she can spend maximum time with her husband. A case has been registered against the driver of the truck who is absconding.
