Air hostess alleges rape by lover as relationship sours

A 22-year-old Emirates Airlines air hostess’ claims of having been raped and sodomised by the CEO of IDFC Capital was revealed to the media on Tuesday, though the victim withdrew her complaint later in the evening.
The incident had been reported at the Vasant Kunj police station in south Delhi on 10 June. In the complaint the victim had told police that she had been repeatedly raped by the accused in the past three years. The victim had alleged that the accused had established physical intimacy with her on the promise of marrying her, but he began ignoring her when she insisted on
the marriage.
'On the basis of her complaint we had conducted a medical examination of the victim and the reports had confirmed rape and unnatural sex,' a police official said. A case under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code had been registered against
the accused.
However, on Tuesday evening, the victim withdrew all charges against the accused, after the two managed to reach a compromise.
In her complaint the victim had said,'The accused used to take her to five star hotels in India and abroad where he raped her on the pretext of marriage.' Recently, the couple had had a heated argument, after one such meeting at a south Delhi five star address. Following the argument, the victim decided to lodge a complaint against him, as she felt cheated by the accused. On Tuesday evening, after the girl informed the media, the accused affected a compromise.
