AI adds 20th Boeing Dreamliner to fleet

Air India has taken delivery of its 20th Dreamliner from US manufacturer Boeing, a milestone which it said highlights their “successful partnership”.

Boeing’s delivery of the 20th 787 Dreamliner was made from its final assembly facility in North Charleston in the state of South Carolina. The airline has ordered twenty seven 787 Dreamliners, with seven more scheduled to be delivered. “With this airplane we are building on the success of our other 787s, which are providing an exceptional experience to our passengers while allowing us to expand our network both within India and around the world,” Air India Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Nandan said on Tuesday. The flag carrier joined the leading global airline network last year, reflecting the strong network growth of the Indian aviation market.

“Today Air India joins an elite group airlines who have taken delivery of 20 or more 787s and this milestone highlights the successful partnership we have between Boeing and Air India,” Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Asia Pacific and India Sales senior vice president Dinesh Keskar said.
