After Modi, Nancy Powell seeks to meet Mamata

A letter in this connection from her office reached Nabanna, the state secretariat and the West Bengal government has sought a formal clearance from the union ministry of external affairs for the meet. Sources said the meeting is likely to be scheduled for 21 or 22 February.

Earlier, Powell had met Mamata on 23 September 2012. Though it was just a courtesy call, the meeting between the two lasted over an hour, coinciding with TMC government completing one year in office.
Powell also invited her to visit the US. On 6 May the same year, US secretary of state Hillary Clinton had met Banerjee at Writers’ Buildings.

Even, British PM David Cameron had a meeting with Mamata on 13 November 2013 for her immense popularity and had discussion on British investments in the state.

Now, her second meeting with Powell is expected to be based on cultural and education tie up with US, apart from seeking help in infrastructural development issues.
