After coal mine allotment, NLC gears up for Rs24,770-crore power plants

Neyveli Lignite (NLC) on Monday said that the two coal blocks allotted to the company by the government will be used for power projects planned in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 24,770 crore.

With the implementation of these projects and schemes in the pipeline, the state-owned lignite miner's power generation capacity will touch 11,195 MW.

'The Ministry of Coal has allocated two coal blocks to NLC for implementing its power projects,' the company said.

‘Neyveli Lignite  is planning to set up a 4,000 MW coal-based power plant near Thirumullaivasal village of Sirkali taluk, Nagapattinam district in two phases,’ NLC said.
