Aeronautical professional, two more held for lawyer’s murder

An aeronautical maintenance professional and his two friends were arrested for the murder of a 57-year-old taxation advocate here last week over personal enmity, police said on Monday.

Mohammad Wasim, 22, who did the aeronautical course from Uttarakhand, Dharmender, 21, and Vijay Singh, 21, were arrested Dec 15 from Delhi’s Kapashera area and during interrogation they confessed to committing the crime, police said.

Advocate Subhash Gupta was smothered to death by the three accused on 13 Dec ember night in his office in east Delhi’s Vikas Marg area, police said.

Wasim, the alleged kingpin of the crime, had a dispute with Gupta over some personal matter and to settle the issue he took help of his associates, police said.

‘They consumed liquor together and went to Gupta’s office. They tied his hands and legs and gagged him. Gupta died due to suffocation and smothering,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Police Prabhakar.

Before escaping, the three attackers took away valuables from the advocate’s office, police said.

Wasim came to Delhi in October last year in search of a job after completing the aeronautical maintenance engineering licence course. His associates worked in private companies, police said.
