‘Adira is God’s greatest gift for us’

Rani Mukerji today welcomed her first child, daughter Adira, and the actor says the baby is God’s greatest gift for her and husband Aditya Chopra.

A healthy Adira was born this morning at Breach Candy Hospital, here. 

The 37-year-old actor thanked her fans, friends and well wishers for their “unconditional support and blessings”.

“I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives,” Rani said in a statement.

Yash Raj Films, headed by 44-year-old Aditya, made the announcement on their official Twitter account. “Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra become proud parents to a baby girl named ‘Adira’,” the post read.

Wishes have started pouring in from Bollywood, with filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra being the first ones to congratulate the couple. Rani and Aditya secretly tied the knot in April last year in Italy.

It is the first marriage for Rani while Aditya, who is known to be a very private person, was previously married to Payal Khanna but they got divorced in 2009.
