Action taken against 28 cops, including four SHOs

The Vigilance Branch of Delhi Police claimed to have taken action against as many as 28 police officials, including four SHOs, in the past nine months. The initiative was taken up in September 2014 and surprise checks have so far been conducted at 480-odd police stations, said a statement on Wednesday. The surprise checks focused on a range of issues from police inaction to misbehaviour with visitors and reluctance in FIR registration. “So far 28 such police personnel have been short-listed and the Vigilance Unit has recommended disciplinary action against them to the concerned Deputy Commissioners,” said a senior cop.
