ACP’s son dies in road accident, five injured

On Wednesday, around 10.30 pm, son of a senior police officer died while five others who were in the speeding Scorpio were critically injured. The incident took place in North Delhi's Ashok Vihar area.

The deceased was identified as Vikash Mann (25). His father, Bhola Ram Mann, is an assistant commissioner of police in Patel Nagar.

'All of them were on their way to central market and Mann was driving the car at high speed of about 100 km/h. Near Ashok Nagar, when Mann tried to overtake a truck, he lost control and rammed into a divider. The impact crumpled the Scorpio,' said a senior police officer.

They were all rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital where Mann was declared brought dead while the other five are being treated, the official added.

The five other man who were travelling with Mann were identified as Rahul Kaushik, Pulkit Gupta, Kamal Garg, Prawesh Dahiya and Vaibhav Mittal. All of them were in their early '20s.

'All five were drunk as determined by a medical examination. The autopsy report of Mann is yet to come,' the official added.

In yet another case, a white Scorpio rammed into a divider at Vikas Marg in the Capital.

There were four people in the car. Due to loss of control, the car collided with the rickshaws that were parked on the road side.

'Amit was driving the car and his wife was sitting next to him while his two children were sitting at the back. They were returning from a party. They are residents of Vaishali, Ghaziabad. While driving the car, Amit had apparently lost concentration and rammed into a divider where few rickshaws were parked. The incident took place in the late night of Wednesday,' said a police offical. The victims suffered minor injuries.
