ACB arrests Delhi cop for graft

Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has arrested a Delhi Police head constable for allegedly accepting a bribe in Sonia Vihar area of north-east Delhi. However, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a constable managed to escape from the spot late on Friday night, a senior official said on Saturday.

The ACB’s move comes after a complaint was registered at Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Helpline — 1031. According to a senior official, the accused head constable was posted at Sonia Vihar Police Station. 

“Complainant made a video recording of head constable demanding a bribe. Complainant registered a complaint against head constable, ASI and constable at Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Helpline and thereafter, action was taken against the corrupt police officials,” the official said.

The victim told ACB officials that he had already paid Rs 10,000 as bribe. But the cop demanded an additional Rs 10,000 from him. On receiving the tip-off,a trap was laid where the cop was caught 

read handed. ACB will produce the accused head constable in the court on Saturday and a manhunt has been launched to nab absconding ASI and constable.
