Absconding dengue patient who assaulted nurses in Gariahat clinic still at large

The police are yet to find out the dengue patient who had fled after allegedly beating up three nurses in a private nursing home at Gariahat in the wee hours of Thursday.

The nursing home authorities had lodged a complaint with Gariahat police station and handed over the footages of surveillance cameras to help them to find out the person identified as Subir Saha.

Narrating the incident, an employee of the nursing home said that Subir is a resident of Mangalkote in Burdwan.

He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night as he was suffering from dengue.

In the wee hours, Subir suddenly woke up and removed the saline channels. He got down from the bed and first manhandled a medical officer present in the ward of the nursing home. He started shouting and wanted to go out of the nursing home.

Three nurses - T Victoria, Margaret Mondal and Sipra Mondal – were on-duty in the ward.

Subir picked up the iron stand used to hang saline bottles and started beating up the nurses.

All three of them received injuries on their heads. Subir had managed to flee when the nurses fell on the ground with blood coming out profusely from their injuries.

The security personnel of the nursing home had seen him moving down the stairs. But they couldn’t approach him as he was carrying the iron stand.

He would have injured them as well if they had tried to catch him.

Other employees of the nursing home took the sisters to another room for treatment.

Condition of Margaret is stated to be critical and she was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital.

The police initiated a search for the accused and also tried to know whether he went to his home at Magalkote in Burdwan.

However, his family members also failed to give any clue about him to the police.
