About one-third DU aspirants yet to pay fees

Out of over 3.4 lakh aspirants, almost one third applicants who registered online for admission to undergraduate course in the Delhi University (DU), have not submitted their fee. Total numbers of registrations till 6 pm on Monday were 3,47,451 of which only 2,37,497 have paid the fee,” DU Registrar Tarun Das said.

“The numbers of female applicants are 1,14,781 while the numbers of male applicants are 1,22,704. Also, 32,792 from Schedule Caste (SC) category and 5,882 from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category have applied,” he added.

After seeing a large number of applicants who have not paid the fee, on Saturday, the University had extended the last date of online registration for admission to undergraduate courses to June 22.
“The online registration for the candidates applying for undergraduate courses shall continue till 5 pm on June 22. However, those candidates who have confirmed their registration till then shall be permitted to pay the fee till midnight,” a senior University official said.

Initially, the last date for submission was June 19, but the date was extended after recommendation by the admissions committee during a meeting on Friday. The extension will also mean a delay in the first cut-off list for admissions. The first cut-off list is now expected to come out on June 30 instead of June 27. For the session of 2016-17 the DU will bring out only five cut-off lists.

The application process this year is fully online through the official DU portal. The registration for all categories, including sports, extra curricular activities (ECA), Kashmiri Migrants, and CW (Defence) are also online. This is for the first time that the university has introduced complete online admission procedure for undergraduate admissions unlike previous years when it used to be both online and offline.
