Abhishek’s condition slowly improving: doctors

The condition of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has improved from what it was a few days ago and he is reported to be stable now.

According to a medical bulletin issued by Belle Vue Clinic, Abhishek had a good night’s sleep on Wednesday and his blood report is normal. His blood pressure, pulse rate and intake of oxygen are also normal. Earlier, he had been suffering from respiratory distress, for which oxygen support was provided to him.

The medical bulletin also added that he is being given semi-liquid food so as to avoid any irritation while swallowing. Moreover, he was fit enough to take a mild walk inside his room. Doctors at the clinic said Abhishek has been responding well to the treatment and his health condition is improving gradually.

The medical board, comprising of 13 specialist doctors, successfully conducted an operation on Tuesday to repair the orbital floor fracture which Abhishek sustained in a major car crash on the Durgapur Expressway on October 18.

The young Trinamool MP had been kept under observation for 72 hours in the Critical Care Unit. Due to a crack on the orbital floor, the movement of his eyeball was severely affected.

This could have caused a serious problem had it not been operated on time. The medical board said that the operation was successful.
