Abhishek Banerjee sends legal notice to editor of Sangbad Pratidin

Abhishek Banerjee, MP and president of All India Trinamool Congress, has sent a legal notice to his former colleague and Editor of Sangbad Pratidin Srinjay Basu for publishing concocted news that has tarnished his image.

The notice has asked the Editor to issue an apology within 12 hours from the receipt of the notice with equal prominence failing which civil and criminal cases would be initiated against him.

The news published on Tuesday’s Sangbad Pratidin read that the video footage shows a correspondent of Narad news impersonating himself as a representative of a fake company Impex Consultant giving money to Trianamool Congress leaders for undue favours.

Again, some unknow youth was found receiving money varying anything between Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 20 lakhs on behalf of Banerjee.

The notice read that by making such accusation the newspaper has lowered the prestige of Banerjee in public. It shows that Banerjee has a dubious moral character and he broke the trust of the party and the people of the constituency from where he was elected in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The newspaper did not bother to verify the news and knew it well that that the lies would spread through it.

Banerjee has denied the allegations and felt that his name was used to mislead people.

The report was published to lower his prestige deliberately in the eyes of public. Banerjee suspected that the news was attempt to revive the luck of the dwindling Opposition parties.
