Abduction-cum-robbery case solved in 1 hour

With the arrest of two men, the Delhi Police claimed to have solved an abduction-cum-robbery case in North-West Delhi’s Maurya Enclave area within one hour.

The police said the incident took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The victims were rescued within one hour and the looted amount was also recovered, police said.

The police said the accused were identified as Imran Ahmad (24) and Mohit Garg (31). The police have recovered one country-made pistol, live cartridges and one Santro car from the possession of the accused.
The police received an input that a group of six-seven men in a Santro car had intercepted a motorcycle and kidnapped the two businessmen near an elevated flyover near RU Block in Pitampura on the intervening night of October 13 and 14. The victims had won Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10,000 in a game of cards and were returning to their homes towards Kingsway Camp when the incident took place.

“Several teams were mobilised. One of the teams received a tip-off that a Santro car of the same description was parked on the service road near Neel Kanth Apartment at Rohini Sector 13. A police team reached the spot and apprehended Imran Ahmad and Mohit Garg, while two of their accomplices managed to flee,” said Milind Dumbere, DCP (North-West).

The duo told the police that they flashed a pistol and asked the victims to stop near Mukarba Chowk, Bhalswa. The police said when the victims did not stop, the accused chased and waylaid them. They, then, allegedly pushed the victims in their Santro car and drove towards Rohini.

The accused told the police that they had learnt that one of the victims had won a big amount in gambling so they decided to kidnap and rob them.

The police are interrogating the two arrested accused about the whereabouts of their accomplices, who are on the run.
