Abducted 27-yr-old Uzbek woman found murdered in Haryana, 1 held

The 27-year-old Uzbek woman, a belly dancer by profession, who went missing from South Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur area in September was found murdered in Haryana and Haryana Police have allegedly cremated her body after failing to establish her identity.

The matter came to light after the Delhi Police probed the case suspecting a trafficking angle and arrested a man, identified as Gagan, in connection with the incident.

During interrogation, he told police that he along with a woman, identified as Naaz, who also hails from Uzbekistan and is still absconding, conspired to eliminate the victim Shakhnoza Shukurova over some monetary dispute.

Gagan, who resides in Kailash Hill in East of Kailash was detained by the police a few days ago. During intensive interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the crime and said that Naaz was a close friend of Shukurova but difference cropped out between the two over a financial dispute of around Rs 8 lakh.

On September 26, an auto driver who used to ferry the victim filed a missing complaint at Kotla Mubarakpur police station after he could not contact her. He told the police that on September 24, he had seen her sitting in an Indica car after which he could not contact her anymore.

When the victim parents got to know about the missing complaint of their daughter, they approached the police and suspected it to be a case of abduction.

They have given several clues to the police about the suspects, based on which the probe was conducted. On October 8, the missing complaint was converted into an abduction case.

Gagan further told police that on the day of the incident, he along with Naaz abducted Shukurova and killed her in the car. They took the body to Samalkha area in Haryana and burnt her body by pouring petrol on her and managed to escape.

The next day, Samalkha police found the body and tried to establish her identity but to no avail. To complicate things further, they cremated the body. “The body was stuffed in a bag and set on fire to destroy the evidence. It was found behind the farmhouse of former MLA Kartar Singh Badana on September 25 morning, after a few men working in the fields nearby noticed it and informed the police,” said Samalkha DSP Gorakhpal Rana.

An FIR was also uploaded on ZIPNET and a broken bottle of wine with stains of blood was seized from the spot. Meanwhile, Delhi Police are planning to conduct a DNA test to establish whether the cremated body was of Shukurova or not. A manhunt is on to nab Naaz, who is a resident of Vasant Kunj.
