AAP workers protest against Delhi Police

Some of the protesters were detained from the spot and later released. As some of the protesters tried to break through a police cordon, the personnel sprayed water to disperse them, witnesses said. The party alleged that Delhi Police had failed to provide security for women.

“We are shocked at police inaction particularly in Anand Parbat murder case. The parents were rebuffed and denied their rights to register a complaint. If the police had been alert, the precious life of a daughter could have been saved,” Ankush Narang, AAP youth wing head said on the occasion.

“While people of Delhi are taken for ransom by the criminal elements, the police are busy settling political scores following the orders of their BJP masters,” he added. The Modi government is fudging statistics to make the public believe about rising crime against women, he added. Meanwhile, the AAP on Sunday evening held a peaceful candle light march against the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. The march was organised by the Delhi unit of the party and it was led by state convener Dilip Pandey. Hundreds of people have participated in the rally.

“Delhi residents are enraged over the complacency and inactiveness of the Delhi Police. They want an answer from the Modi government which directly controls the Delhi Police and also does not shy away from using it for its political purposes,” said Pandey. During the march, the AAP also paid tribute to Meenakshi, who was brutally stabbed to death by anti-social elements, while police remained a mute spectator even though her parents tried to approach police.
