AAP turns down Vaiko’s invite to fight TN polls

A day after MDMK chief and coordinator of PWF-DMDK combine Vaiko met the state leaderhip of Aam Aadmi party (AAP) here, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party on Friday said it would not be possible for it to extend support to any alliance or party in Tamil Nadu for the May 16 Assembly election.

In a letter addressed to Vaiko, AAP leader and in-charge for TN, Somnath Bharti said his party “has keenly been watching the political developments in Tamil Nadu”.  “It won’t be possible for the party to extend support to any alliance or party in the state for the upcoming elections,” he said.

Though he referred to a letter sent by Vaiko to Kejriwal, he did not make references to its contents. Before he shot off a letter, Vaiko met the AAP state convenor Vaseegaran on Thursday and the
MDMK had described it as a “courtesy call”.
