AAP gets ‘broom’ to sweep elections!

Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has got its election symbol from the Election Commission. It has been allotted the broom as its symbol to contest the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. Few other parties also got election symbols from the commission on Wednesday.
Officials said that the commission, perhaps, for the first time has given election symbols to parties before the notification of election.

The party sources said it had given its three preferences to the Election Commission in which broom was its first option and they got that. Party leaders expressed their happiness on getting the desired symbol.

The party, which was launched in November 2012, would formally inaugurate its election symbol in a public event on 3 August.

‘After the registration of the party, this is the second milestone we have crossed in our way to clean up the political system of the country. With the broom which symbolises dignity of labour, the party hopes to clean the filth which has permeated our government and our legislature,’ said Kumar Vishwas, an AAP leader.
Recently, a section of the party, feeling aggrieved at the ticket distribution, has made another front – BAAP.
