AAP exec meeting: Yogendra, Prashant wings to be clipped?

A senior AAP leader on condition of anonymity said, “There is an ideological war going on in the party. A faction led by Yadav has ultra-left leanings, while another section led by Arvind Kejriwal wants alternative-politics.”

The leader further said that the party has been receiving flak due to these leaders’ perceived soft stance vis-a-vis Kashmiri separatists and Naxalites. “Now AAP wants to steer clear of such politics and take strict action against these leaders,” said the leader. ‘These leaders are not ready to change their mindset. They do have some problem with Kejriwal. Yadav wants to become the party convener. But he could not deliver during the Lok Sabha election. He was harbouring hopes of becoming the next chief minister of Haryana, he made tall claims, but in Lok Sabha he lost even his security deposit from Gurgaon seat. It is Kejriwal who is doing selfless job for the party, while others have their own agenda,” said the senior leader.

“After the Lok Sabha debacle, this conspiracy against Kejriwal picked up pace. Prashant Bhushan, his father Shanti Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav entered into a conspiracy to weaken the party from within and then use this to challenge Kejriwal’s leadership and perch Yadav as national convener,”
he added.

Meanwhile the senior AAP leader Ashutosh on Monday tweeted “The decisive churning in AAP. It’s clash of ideas between ultra left who demand referendum in Kashmir and pragmatic politics of welfarism.”
