AAP cries ‘witch-hunt’ on extension to panel probing Mann

Alleging that the Centre was ‘spying’ on its MP Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday said the extension given to a Lok Sabha panel probing Mann’s videography issue amounts to an ‘unprecedented witch-hunt’ where entire BJP has ‘ganged up’ against a lone MP.

The party blamed blamed PM Narendra Modi Government for targeting AAP leaders and MLAs by registering false cases and arresting them through the Delhi Police.

Addressing a press meet, Senior AAP leader and National Spokesperson Ashutosh said that it has come to light that the Modi Government had ordered the spying of AAP MP Bhagwant Mann. “When Bhagwant Mann was at a Naturopathy Centre in Bangalore to improve his health, two officials from the Union Home Ministry were sent to Bangalore to collect information on the AAP leader’s time there,” Ashutosh said

He said, “The Modi Government has occupied itself with only one mission in mind - targeting of AAP leaders and MLAs by registering false cases against them and getting them arrested. Even as militancy rises in Kashmir, Dalits are beaten up in Una (Gujarat) and women are openly raped in broad daylight in Bulandshahr, the Prime Minister does not care about any of these problems faced by the country right now.”

Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Ashish Khetan also said, “On one hand Bhagwant Mann is being spied on and on the other hand the Inquiry Committee is investigating the video made by him which will take another 15 days”.

“The fact is that Bhagwant Mann is being disallowed to enter Parliament because he is an MP who asks tough questions on behalf of the farmers of Punjab and raises issues of drug abuse in the state. The whole machinery of the NDA Government and the 282 MPs has been focussed on AAP MP Bhagwant Mann in a systematic effort to harass him,” he said.
